The story
Peru's purple national drink, brewed from maíz morado — the violet Andean corn the Incas already used for ceremonial drinks. Simmered with pineapple, apple, cinnamon and cloves, then served ice-cold: fruity, spiced, deep violet. The pigment of the purple corn is considered today one of the most antioxidant-rich foods of the Andes.
